How to Clean Your Carepod
Humidifiers are a great addition to your home. With added moisture to the air, you'll find that some of your most annoying health woes will disappear -- dry skin, sore throats, stuffy noses.
However, lately it has come to many's attention that some humidifier models can be a breeding ground for mold and bacteria growth. With lots of surface area and ample amounts of water, if forgotten about, microbes can grow.
Luckily, unlike other humidifiers, Carepod is easy to clean with just three simple steps. And -- it's 99.99% sterilizable!
So, without further ado, let's get into it.
Weekly Cleaning
Step 1: Disassemble
The first step of your cleaning process is to separate your humidifier into 4 parts.
Remove the oscillator from the appliance and set it aside. Then, lift the top of the humidifier (called the main body) and detach the cover. On the MS031S2 model, the cover with be stainless steel. On the MS021P model, the cover will be plastic.
The last part you will be left with is the water tank.
To review -- disassemble the humidifier into 4 parts:
- Oscillator
- Main body
- Cover
- Water Tank
Step 2: Hand Wash or Sterilize
First, take the oscillator that you set aside. Using a toothbrush, clean the surrounding area with soap and water, similar to how you wash dishes. Be careful not to soak the oscillator in boiling water.
You may wash the humidifier cover and water tank with one of two ways:
- Hand washing with soap and water.
- Sterilizing in boiling water.
To hand wash, clean with a sponge, cleaning brush, or toothbrush to ensure all grooves in the cover are reached.
To sterilize the MS031S2 model, you may fill the water tank with boiling water and place the cover inside. To sterilize the MS021P model, we recommend placing the tank and the bottom part of the lid in a basin of boiling water for just 1-2 minutes.
Either way, the cleaning process is fairly simple and will ensure your humidifier is disinfected.
Friendly reminder: Make sure to avoid washing the main body with water, as this can cause damage.
Step 3: Wipe with a Dry Towel
Once done with hand washing, wipe the oscillator, cover, and water tank with a towel in order to dry. You may also wipe the main body with a dry towel, to remove any dust or impurities.
Cleaning Your Air Filter
Another part of your Carepod that you'll want to clean is the air filter. This may be done weekly and is just as easy as cleaning the rest of your humidifier.
First, take off the filter cover and remove the filter. Then, rinse the filter with water and dry with a clean towel. Once you are finished, you can put the air filter back in its original spot.

How to Clean a Regular Humidifier
As other humidifiers are not built with the same materials as Carepod and do not have easily accessible parts, the cleaning process will be different.
To begin, it is recommended that the water in your humidifier is replaced daily. The water in your humidifier is the water in your air, and you want to ensure that it is fresh and clean.
It is essential that you thoroughly clean the inside of your humidifier at least once a week (although daily cleaning is recommended). This may vary depending on the model, but here is a general guide to disinfecting.
- Disassemble - Separate any parts that are detachable. This way, you can be clean the surrounding areas.

Clean with White Vinegar - Rinse and soak all parts of your humidifier with white vinegar or a white vinegar and water solution for about 20 minutes. Use a toothbrush or cleaning brush to get hard to reach crevices.
- Rinse with Water - After removing the white vinegar, rinse the humidifier parts thoroughly with water.

Disinfect with Bleach - Bleach is very effective in removing bacteria and other microbes. Make a mild bleach solution by adding about 1 tablespoon of bleach to a gallon of water. Then, let the humidifier parts soak in this solution for about half an hour.
- Rinse with Water - Once the bleach has been removed, rinse your humidifier with water until the bleach smell is gone.
- Dry - For all the areas of your humidifier that can be reached by hand, dry with a clean towel. For unreachable areas, let them air dry.
